The Graveyard Book

For my children's literature class, we read the 2009 Newbery Medal, The Graveyard Book.  The book was quite weird, I thought, but interesting as well.  I would say I enjoyed reading the book and I think kids would enjoy reading it as well (Duh!  Since it WAS written for children).  So here are a few fun activities you can do with this book (and some activities can be used for any book as well):

Book Trailer (or movie trailer):  have students come up a book/movie trailer!  Get your students to write a script, use props, and use a camera!

Supernatural Powers:  Bod can do various supernatural things such as Fading, Dreamwalking...have students come up with another supernatural power and draw it.

Picture Perfect:  Have students illustrate a scene out of the book or make a comic strip out of one of the scenes in the book.
